CSJ weekly sports round-up

April 1

Bill Brancatella hurled a shutout to score CSJ an 8-0 victory over Penn State Beaver at Monaca, PA. Brancatella struck out 12 while giving up just five hits over seven shutout innings. The Saints pounded out 10 hits.

Jordan Matos contributed three RBIs on three hits for the Fighting Saints, including a triple in the third inning. CSJ led from start, as they scored two runs on an RBI double by Jayson Osborne and an RBI single by Matos in the first inning.

In the second game of the double-header, CSJ let one slip away. Ryan Cummings pitched dominated the early going for CSJ, giving up just one hit, four walks and no earned runs in four innings of work.

CSJ’s Tyler Kunzmann was charged with the loss, allowing three runs in 2 2/3 innings.

The Penn State Beavers scored three runs in the seventh inning on an RBI double by, two errors, and an RBI single.

April 2

CSJ jumped out to an early lead, but West Virginia University of Technology erupted on offense for a 12-3 victory at Montgomery, West Virginia.

Connor Martin had a big day with three RBIs and two hits for Fighting Saints. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.

Alan Madsen took the loss for Fighting Saints, allowing nine runs in 4 2/3 innings, walking one and striking out five.

In the second game of the double-header, CSJ jumped out to a big 4-0 lead in the first inning behind a two-run home run by Jayson Osborne, a timely hit by Tyler Kunzmann.

Jovan Henriquez picked up the win for CSJ, allowing four runs over five innings. He struck out four and gave up four hits.
