The Rutland High School co-ed cheerleading team proudly displays their first place trophy at the New England Cheering Championships, having won the competition on March 21.

RUTLAND — Rutland High School won first in New England for its co-ed cheerleading routine on Saturday, March 21. The New England Cheering Championships (officially the 9th Annual New England Interscholastic Spirit Championship) were held at Lawrence High School in Lawrence, Mass.

The team of 23 co-ed athletes received a score of 190.10 for difficulty and execution of jumps, stunts, pyramids, tumbling, synchronization, creativity, the sharpness of the movements, showmanship, and overall routine execution. Coached by Cara Gauvin of Peak Performance, the RHS cheer team is the first Vermont team to win this competition.

Their routine was performed to a medley of upbeat songs lasting just under the 3 minute limit.
