Students and general public enjoy free “Current Environmental Issues” course

RUTLAND — CCV is currently offering a grant funded course, “Current Environmental Issues,” that is free and open to all interested in learning more about environmental issues and the growing field of agribusiness.

The course started Monday, March 23 and runs for 7 weeks from 6-8:45 p.m. The 3-credit course is fully funded through the TAACCCT grant and the Dept. of Labor.

CCV’s Barbara Richter will facilitate the discussion of current environmental issues along with GMP’s Timothy Upton and Dave Dunn, as well as guest lecturers.

This course is also aligned with Vermont Technical College’s agribusiness programs, and a VTC representative will discuss the variety of offerings, including bee-keeping, beer-brewing, and cheese-making to name a few. Students can expect to learn about and discuss issues such as climate change, globalization, and energy use in Vermont and globally. Classes will take place at both the CCV-Rutland Academic Center and at Green Mountain Power locations including the Energy Innovation Center in downtown Rutland.

Interested participants filled out a workforce application online at https://ccv.edu/apply/workforce-education/org. For more information call 802-786-6996.
