Ryan Cabrera to play Downtown Rutland on Sept. 10
Friday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m.— RUTLAND —Friday Night Live returns in September with a free performance featuring platinum-selling artist Ryan Cabrera and 2000s rock band Nine Days on Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. on Center Street in Downtown Rutland.
“After a year of patiently waiting and planning, we can’t be more excited to bring back Friday Night Live’s free entertainment to Center Street,” said Nikki Hindman, executive director of the Downtown Rutland Partnership. “Downtown businesses are eager to welcome the Rutland community to the district for a night of fun.”
Ryan Cabrera is the singer and songwriter behind ubiquitous smashes such as “On the Way Down,” “True,” and “Shine On,” as well as albums that include 2004’s “Take It All Away,” which hit No. 8 on the Billboard Top 200. He was also featured on MTV’s “Ashlee Simpson Show” and “The Hills.”
Supporting Cabrera on the Center Street stage is rock band Nine Days, best known for recording the relentlessly catchy “Absolutely (Story of a Girl)” that soared to the top of the charts in 2000. The memorable single, which takes Gen Xers back to another time and place, propelled the band’s major label debut, The Madding Crowd, to go gold.
In addition to live music, families and friends can enjoy outdoor dining in the Center Street parklets, sample snacks and frosty treats from food trucks, play giant games, and browse local businesses and vendors on Center Street between Merchants Row and Wales. Each Friday Night Live kicks off at 5 p.m. with the main musical acts starting about 8 p.m. Concert attendees are encouraged to come early to grab dinner prior to the concert and to bring their own lawn chairs for viewing the shows.
