Grudge Match illuminates top riders in Dark Park

By Robin Alberti

KILLINGTON—On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Darkside held its third annual Grudge Match, which turned out to be one of the biggest events that Darkside has hosted at the Dark Park, according to employee Evan Ricker. The Dark Park is located behind the Darkside store on Killington Road.

The competition was a bracketed, head-to-head, winner-take-all event. About 40 riders participated, and over 50 spectators cheered for the cool tricks on display throughout the event. A bonfire kept spectators warm and DJ Scrumptious provided pump-up jams.  Even if park riding is not your forte, it was impossible not to leave with a greater appreciation for these riders’ skills.

Luke Haddock walked away from the event as champion, again. After claiming the top prize at the Neff Land Space Jam at Killington Resort, he also took the top prize at the Dark Park. Haddock had a lucrative day on Saturday, leaving the night with hundreds of dollars in cash.
