Rutland Regional Medical Center honors Ron Cioffi at annual meeting of the corporators

On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, Rutland Regional Medical Center (RRMC) held its annual meeting of the corporators virtually, for the first time. With close to 100 participants, the hour-long meeting featured various reports, special presentations as well as the election of new corporators and members of the hospital’s board of directors.

The meeting including a special presentation in honor of longtime board member and Executive Director of the VNA Hospice of the Southwest Region, Ron Cioffi for his 30 years of dedicated service to the hospital board.

Cioffi, who retires as executive director of the VNA later this month, thanked hospital CEO Claudio Fort for the honor and many years of partnership. “It is the collaboration among healthcare providers in our community that continues to enable high quality care to patients throughout our local region.”

Others being recognized during the meeting included outgoing board member and former board chair, Mike Solimano, as well as Bob Hedden, and longtime board members Cort Jones and TJ Sabotka. Volunteer board chair, Joe Kraus recognized the outgoing board members for their many years of service, expertise and leadership, especially in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Heather Cooper, an attorney with the Rutland law firm Facey, Goss & McPhee, was elected to serve a three-year term on the RRHS-RRMC board of directors.  Additional highlights from the meeting included a status update from Joe Kraus, chair, on behalf of the hospital’s board. Additional reports were presented from medical staff president Dr. Phil Lapp as well as from Joan Gamble, chair of the James T. Bowse Health Trust.

Fort provided a year-in-review including a 2020 retrospective video presentation, which included highlights from the hospital’s early and ongoing response to the Covid-19 pandemic.  Additionally, Fort, talked about the successful Housing for Health project in partnership with the Rutland Housing Authority, and multiple community partners to build a bridge housing facility in Rutland. Kevin Loso, executive director of the housing authority, presented RRMC with the first-ever community partners award in recognition of the role the hospital played in this important community project.
