Pomfret elementary considered as consolidation location for Bridgewater

By Kim Jackson

POMFRET—On Thursday, Feb. 26, an open house and walk-through of the current Pomfret School campus will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Voters are being asked to vote at Town Meeting on March 3 on a proposal to create a joint district school between the communities of Bridgewater and Pomfret. If the joint district school proposal is approved, the name would be changed.

Now that the four informational “fireside chats” are complete, members of the two school boards are offering an open house and walk-through of the Pomfret campus for anyone who is interested in seeing firsthand what the new school facility as to offer.

This is a chance for Bridgewater and Pomfret families, voters, and staff and teachers of both the Bridgewater Village School and The Pomfret School to view the classrooms, special rooms, observatory and more of the Pomfret campus in its current form. Light snacks and pizza will be available and families are welcome. Some families and students are already familiar with the campus, as they have attended school outings, sports programs and the like at The Pomfret School already. Teachers and staff from both existing schools will be on hand to help tour the school and answer questions.

The public is encouraged to attend. For more information, please contact a school board member in your town.
