Mission Farm’s annual coat drive was a huge success Veteran’s weekend of November 2020. The greater Killington community came through again this year donating over six extra-large bins of winter outerwear, a pair of boots, a dozen homemade masks and $500 for the purchase of boots and socks. This year’s donations went to the Dodge House Veteran’s Assistance Office to support Veterans in Rutland County.
Christina Morgan the Executive Director of the Dodge House was overwhelmed by the generosity of the donations and expressed her sincere thanks to Mission Farm and the greater Killington Community.
She said, winter is quickly approaching she already had multiple requests for winter coats and boots. The outerwear will be given away free of charge to veterans in need. Morgan said since January 2020, the Dodge House gave over 800 assists to local veterans. Assists include (but aren’t limited to) help with housing, clothing and food access. Sue Durant, Mission Farm’s Senior Warden said, “It was our privilege to host this coat drive as a way to give back to our veterans, who have sacrificed so much to serve and protect our country.”
