Friday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. — RANDOLPH — Chandler presents Bow Thayer as part of their new “First Friday” series, on Friday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Upper Gallery.
Chandler kicked off this new series with an intimate evening of guitar playing from Burlington duo The DuPont Brothers in November, followed by dancing with the Party Crashers in December. Chandler is thrilled to present Bow Thayer for the next installment. Thayer and his band will perform new music from his new record as well as some old favorites.
Thayer is an accomplished and prolific songwriter who cultivates influences from the worlds of rock, blues, folk, progressive rock, bluegrass, and anything and everything in between to produce music that is heartfelt, soulful, and uniquely his. Showing that he is finally gaining national recognition, American Songwriter magazine says this “onetime Levon Helm compatriot is the best artist to come from New England in recent years.”
Bow Thayer’s most recent studio recording, “Eden,” was released in 2013 to widespread critical acclaim. “Eden” is an observation of society’s self-inflicted wounds. Despite lyrical themes detailing man’s degradation of the planet, “Eden” provides listeners with hope for the future. Thayer held an album release party on Chandler’s main stage in January 2013, and the live recording, “Eden – Live at The Chandler” was released in April 2014. Bow is moving forward with his longtime drummer, Jeff Berlin, and a new cast of musicians as he explores the creative potential of his self-designed stringed instrument, known affectionately as the Bojotar.
As part of this new series, the $19 admission (or two for $35) includes a free drink at the cash bar and free snacks. Tickets can be reserved by calling the Chandler box office at 802-728-6464.
Chandler Center for the Arts is located at 71-73 Main Street, Randolph.
