KILLINGTON — Have you ever had a desire to perform in front of an audience, but the opportunity has never presented itself? Check out open mic at Liquid Art on Wednesday nights from 6-9 p.m. Come and just enjoy the entertainment and edibles, or test out your musical skills. You will also delight your visual senses by the ample artwork that adorns the space.
Brady Crain hosts, bringing microphones and amps, so all you need to bring is your voice or your instrument of choice. There are always other folks willing to jam with you, or you can take a turn on stage yourself.
Crain is a native of Randolph, having grown up skiing at Killington. He is trained as a classical vocal performer, and is also a realtor and stand-up comic, although he said he used to have stage fright. When the Mountain Times asked why he likes to host open mic nights, he said, “It’s where magic happens. People get to develop their skills.”
Chad Hollister, part of the local music scene, encouraged Brady to play music. “He is the reason I became a musician.”
Brady Crain got his first paying gig after being spotted at an open mic night, so he enjoys giving others that same opportunity. He is a master of “live stacking,” recording himself playing guitar, stand-up bass, and percussion, and sings three part harmonies, layering those tracks so he becomes his own band, the “Electric Only Child Experience.”
