Following the success of its inaugural accelerator program in 2024, StartUp Rutland is expanding its collaboration with gener8tor to introduce two new programs in 2025: gALPHA in the spring and gBETA in the fall. These programs aim to support entrepreneurs at different stages of their startup journey, reinforcing Rutland’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation.
StartUp Rutland, an initiative of the Chamber & Economic Development of the Rutland Region (CEDRR), is designed to foster high-growth startups, attract entrepreneurs to Vermont, and support local business development.
New startup programs coming to Rutland in 2025
gALPHA (April 3 – May 1): A four-week, workshop-based pre-accelerator that helps entrepreneurs validate ideas and develop prototypes. Open to early-stage Vermont-based innovators.
gBETA (Sept. 4 – Oct. 23): A seven-week accelerator offering intensive coaching and access to investors, mentors, and corporate partners. Open to startups nationwide, focusing on encouraging founders to relocate to Rutland.
Both programs are free and equity-free, providing mentorship, hands-on coaching, and access to gener8tor’s extensive industry network.
Building on a successful 2024 accelerator
The inaugural gBETA StartUp Rutland program in 2024 received over 50 applications from across the U.S. and internationally. The five selected companies—Tacitl, Aprexis Health, Brightwater Tools, SkinGenius, and Cathoven—showed significant growth potential, collectively raising more than $600,000 in venture capital. The program culminated in a showcase at the Paramount Theatre, drawing investors and community members.
“Following the success of last year’s cohort, we’re excited to expand our work at both StartUp Rutland and gener8tor, bringing even more opportunities for entrepreneurs in Vermont,” said Mose Cassaro, director at StartUp Rutland and gener8tor. “Adding gALPHA in the spring allows us to reach innovators at an earlier stage, giving them the tools and mentorship to develop their ideas into scalable startups.”
Vermont-based gBETA participants receive $20,000 in startup support capital, including year-round office space at The CoWorks. Out-of-state startups can access this funding if they relocate to Rutland or engage local vendors.
“StartUp Rutland programming, matched with the quality of life in our region, will be a magnet for the founders of the future,” said Cooper Babbitt, operations director for CEDRR. “We welcome the opportunity to strengthen our partnership with gener8tor with innovative and transformative business development.”
