As of Tuesday, April 14, the Vermont Department of Health reported that a total of 39 Rutland County and 27 Windsor County residents had tested positive for COVID-19. That amounts to 6 cases per 10,000 population for Rutland County and 5 cases per 10,000 for Windsor County.
Health department officials on Friday said 31 people are currently hospitalized statewide and another 33 patients are being in investigated for COVID-19.
Statewide, 752 Vermonters have tested positive for the coronavirus, thus far, according to the DOH, and 29 Vermonters have died from the disease. Another 35 patients are being monitored, while 796 have completed monitoring. The Vermont Department of Health has conducted 10,585 COVID-19 tests as of Tuesday.
While the virus does tend to hospitalize older adults, youth and young adults are still getting the coronavirus. As of Tuesday, 323 people under 50 have tested positive — nearly half of the total confirmed cases in the state— with 95 of those texting positive being in their 20s, which is more than those testing postive in their 70s (85 cases) or 80s (73 cases).
The majority of Vermont’s coronavirus cases (147) have involved people ages 50-59.
