I am so sad to report the passing of Dave Pfannenstein, my friend, a friend of the Mountain Times and one of the most wonderful people many of us have had the privilege to know. Dave Pfannenstein recently retired as the executive director of the Vermont Golf Association and moved permanently to Florida.
Pfannenstein was elected to PGA membership in April of 1990 after having compled the PGA training and apprentice program. He subsequently served as head professional at Tater Hill Golf Club in Chester, Vermont; Crown Point CC in Springfield, Vermont, and for a decade or more he was the head professional at Killington Golf Resort.
Dave Pfannenstein made a wealth of contributions to the world of golf as a terrific player, teacher and administrator. He was a powerful supporter of all those interested in and working at golf. He was universally recognized by his peers for his ambitious achievements. He was highly decorated in his trade by the Professional Golf Association of America.
Pfannenstein was admired and made a difference wherever he went. Most importantly, he was just a wonderful man. He was smart, kind, supportive, energetic, creative, and totally unassuming. One could not help but love him. He will be greatly missed. We wish love, prayers and comfort to his wonderful and loving wife Shari and family.
