Several weekend events cancelled or postponed

Venues around the state are grappling with cancellation of events in hopes of keeping the public safe from the corona outbreak. The following are the local announcements that have been made so far.

  • March 21-22 is a big weekend for maple syrup, and unfortunately, Maplefest events have been cancelled, including those in Poultney and at Baird Farm.
  • At the Paramount Theatre in Rutland, Friday’s Eaglemania concert has been postponed until June 20. Rutland’s Got Talent has been postponed until June 13. The Metropolitan Opera presentation of “Der Fliegende Holländer” Sunday is cancelled. The Russian National Ballet’s Swan Lake performance on March 17 is TBD, so please call the theatre if you plan to attend at 802-775-0570.
  • The Cerutti-Reid duo’s performance at Brandon Music has been cancelled. Decisions on future shows will be made on a case-by-case basis, so please contact the Compass Center directly with questions. 802-247-4295
  • The Heritage Family Credit Union’s Shiver Me Shamrocks 5k is scheduled to happen, with a few changes. There will be no race day registration, only runners/walkers that have pre-registered online will have bibs for the event. The packet pick up location has moved! Please pick up your pre-registered packet at the starting line on Center St. between noon and 1 p.m. on Saturday. The after-party at the Hop’n Moose is cancelled. However, each race participant will receive one drink ticket on their bib and the proprietors and generous sponsor have agreed to honor your drink ticket at any time for the next 90 days when you visit Hop’n Moose for your dining pleasure. The Hop’n Moose will be open to the public during their normal operating hours on Saturday.
  • The West Rutland Variety show at the West Rutland Town Hall has been postponed until July 12, 2020.
  • At the Godnick Adult Center, the following programs have been effected:
    • Movers and Shakers Class Canceled through March 20th
    • OSHER Lectures Canceled until April 3rd
    • Bingo Canceled through March 20th
    • Massage and Meditation Open House March 17th Postponed Date TBD
    • Music March 17th Canceled
    • Exercise and Line Classes with Marilyn Canceled until April 6th
  • The Vermont Open at Stratton has been cancelled.
