Vermont Law School offers free tax help

Vermont Law School’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Center in South Royalton is offering free help with tax return preparation and electronic filing help to qualified Vermonters from now through April 8 at the South Royalton campus. Available from 5 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, the VITA Center’s IRS-certified volunteers offer help to taxpayers who generally make $56,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English-speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns. Walk-ins are welcome.

“Doing your taxes can be stressful,” notes Victoria Chase, Vermont Law School site co-coordinator of VITA. “Sometimes you just need someone to walk you through the process who has the answers you can’t find on your own. That’s why we’re here.”

An operation of Capstone Community Services, the VITA center at Vermont Law School is located on the first floor of Waterman Hall. Campus signs are posted to direct visitors to the center and parking. The center will be closed March 9 and 11 for spring break.

For more information call 802-831-1363, or email student coordinators Victoria.chase@vermontlaw.edu and Kathleen.flanagan@vermontlaw.edu.
