Chester boys soccer takes state D-III title for the first time

In an overtime game, Green Mountain Union High School’s fourth seeded boys soccer team in Chester defeated No. 7 Mill River 4-0 Saturday, Nov. 2 to take the D-III title at Hartford’s Maxwell Athletic Complex.

This was Green Mountain’s boys’ soccer team’s first state title in the school’s history.

“It was awesome,” Athletic Director Todd Parah said. “It’s a very, very young team. They just peaked at the right time.”

In girls’ soccer, Proctor Union High School defeated Rivendell 6-0 to take the D-IV title at Bellows Falls Union High School.

Meanwhile Otter Valley Union High School’s field hockey team in Brandon was defeated by Mount Abraham 1-0  for the D-II title.

Windsor defeated Stowe 3-0 at the D-III field hockey championship at the University of Vermont.
