Billings Farm and Museum welcomes Milligan as associate director

WOODSTOCK—Billings Farm and Museum has a new associate director.

Barbara Milligan, formerly the president and CEO of the Cape and Islands United Way, brings with her a strong combination of marketing, development and leadership experience.

In her former role, she managed an annual campaign of $1.2 million-plus and spearheaded partnerships that strengthened the organization within its community.

Much of Milligan’s background is in museum and historic site management where she has served as president & CEO of Highfield Hall & Gardens, executive director of the Cape Cod Children’s Museum, and director/curator of the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth.

“We are delighted to welcome her to the team. Bobbie’s experience and dynamism will factor significantly as we broaden our reach, community engagement, and the special experiences we offer to our guests,” said Billings Executive Director David Simmons.

Billings Farm is special to Milligan.

“Many years ago, my husband and I brought our young sons to Billings Farm & Museum where we had a most memorable experience. We milked a cow, petted horses, toured the farmhouse, and watched sheep being sheared. As a descendant of generations off farmers, a spinner and practitioner of domestic arts, and passionate champion of open space and preservation, I left there thinking… this is my place, this is my dream job,” Milligan said.
