UVAC swim team raises a record $10,929

The annual Upper Valley Aquatic Club Swim Team Swim-A-Thon in White River Junction earlier in April was a record-breaker. Athletes swam a total of 8,761 laps in two hours, according to an April 25 news release. Fundraising efforts by UVAC swimmers and families garnered more than $10,000 in contributions for the community.

In addition to adding to the UVAC Scholarship Fund, the club buys new essential equipment, covers meet costs and funds athlete travel.

The team donated $546 to the USA Swimming Foundation. The Foundation works to strengthen the sport of swimming by saving lives and building champions – in the pool and in life.

The UVAC Team swims at the White River Junction location and practices at the Colby Sawyer pool in New London, N.H., as well. The team has 135 members from all over the Upper Valley including Bridgewater, Grantham, Hartland, Hartford, Quechee, Reading and Woodstock.
