Killington Resort announces summer event schedule

KILLINGTON—On May 1, Killington Resort announced the 2018 summer event schedule including the Fox US Open of Mountain Biking Aug. 1-5, and the Under Armour Mountain Running Series Aug. 25.

In addition to more than 20 events this summer, Killington’s summer operations continue to expand. A Woodward WreckTangle and additional summer attractions will be added to the Adventure Center.

Inspired by Woodward, WreckTangle is an outdoor ninja obstacle challenge course designed to encourage kids and adults to overcome challenges by using skill, strength, creativity, imagination and determination while igniting spatial awareness, athleticism, agility, and amusement.

Additionally, Killington’s Mountain Bike Park will make improvements to beginner terrain, unveil the newly completed Krusty Trail on Ramshead and extend riding hours. The Bike Park will also host two key events this summer: the Vermont Bike & Brew on June 15-17 featuring organized riding for all levels, live music and local Vermont brews; and the Fox US Open of Mountain Biking Aug. 1-5 with a race for every age rider.

“The opportunity to host the Fox US Open of Mountain Biking will showcase the investment Killington has put into the bike park to design trails for all levels of riders,” said Justin Pill, events & sponsorships manager at Killington Resort. “This event will attract some of the best mountain bike athletes from all over the country competing in the US Open Downhill, US Open Enduro, Best Whip, Kids Open with Grom Bomb and Adaptive DH Race. Vendors, live music and group laps will create a party-like atmosphere for all.”

Memorial Day Weekend at Killington is expected to feature prime late-spring skiing and riding (conditions permitting), plus the kickoff of summer operations including the Killington Golf Course, Adventure Center and Mountain Bike Park, followed by events for all types of athletes from golfers to runners.

The Cooler in the Mountains concert series starts July 14 and returns to the K-1 base area for 8 weeks featuring local and national entertainment. The summer season closes out with the well-known Killington Brewfest on Sept. 29.
