In honor of National Fire Prevention Week, Steve Finer of Killington Fire and Rescue gave safety presentations to KES students Tuesday, Oct. 7. Finer and teachers spoke with children about how to avoid fires and asked them to ensure that there are smoke detectors in their homes with batteries changed annually. Discussion centered around what has to happen in case of a fire. If you are in a burning building, get out. Go to a designated meeting spot and wait for help to arrive. Call 911 to seek help, and be prepared to tell the dispatcher your address. Parents: if your child does not know his/her address, please make teaching this information a priority. With the use of cell phones today, the dispatcher will need this information.
KES thanks Steve Finer and the Killington Fire and Rescue for educating students about fire prevention.
