Exceptional chamber music on tap at ArtisTree center

POMFRET—On Friday, June 23, at 7:30 p.m., the ArtisTree Community Arts Center in South Pomfret will host an evening of exceptional chamber music featuring award-winning cellist, Maxim Kozlov and Japanese pianist, Sakiko Ohashi. The concert will feature the music of Dimitri Shostakovich and Robert Schumann, in the Artistree barn concert space.

Tickets are $10 at the door and all ages are welcome. A cash bar and desserts will be available.

Kozlov resides in Maryland, performing and teaching the greater-Washington D.C. area. Born in Russia, he traveled the world with Chamber Music Kremlin and was for seven years principal cellist with the South Dakota Symphony. His playing has been described as forceful and poetic, drawing rich colors and dynamic tonalities from the instrument. He follows a long tradition of a captivating musical style, drawing in the listener through his exceptional technical skill combined with delightful lyricism.

Ohashi spent many years studying at The Juilliard School in New York City, receiving both bachelor and masters degrees in piano performance. Since that time, she has performed in various chamber music ensembles with some of the world’s leading artists, as well as recital and orchestral appearances. Ohashi is known for her remarkable versatility at the keyboard and inherent mastery of chamber music performance style.

A post-concert talk with both artists, and reception, will conclude the evening.
