Trail widening complete on Highline

KILLINGTON — On Friday, Sept. 26, Killington Mountain School announced that all of the cutting is now finished on Killington’s Highline trail, as a part of the school’s ongoing Trails Initiative Project.

“Craig Mosher of Mosher Excavating logged many hours this fall dropping brush, resulting in a much wider venue for our athletes this season,” KMS said in the recent release. With the widening complete, the work has now turned to clearing and grading. A new snowmaking system for the trail will be installed in October, marking the end of Phase II of the Trails Project, KMS reported.

Phase III will include burying the power line and construction of a four-season bag jump. Planning is still underway to improve lift access, through either the implementation of a new lift or the construction of a mid-station on the existing triple. Once the lift access is addressed, the construction of start and finish houses will bring the project to completion.

“The impact these improvements will have on our athletes in the short and long term is tremendous,” the school stated.
