Thursday, Oct. 9 at 9 a.m. — CASTLETON — The Rutland Region Workforce Investment Board’s Council on Youth is working with the high school counselors of Mill River Union High School, Mount St. Joseph Academy, Otter Valley Union High School, Proctor High School, Rutland High School, and West Rutland High School to organize the third annual Sophomore Career Summit being held Thursday, Oct. 9. Sophomores from across the region will meet at the summit to discuss critical issues surrounding financial literacy and attend panel sessions designed to be an opportunity for tenth graders to explore their career interests and gain information directly from the business community. Panelists are represented by over 65 industry volunteers from across 21 career pathways.
Colin Ryan is the summit’s guest speaker. Colin is a comedian and motivational speaker who incorporates life changing laughter into important themes facing the youth of today and will address the importance of financial literacy.
This year over 400 sophomores are expected to attend the event at Castleton State College from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. This has all been made possible by sponsorships totaling over $14,000.
