Highway crash results in tractor-trailor truck in river, closes Route 103

MOUNT HOLLY—A crash last week left a tractor-trailer in the water and briefly closed Route 103. At about 4:00 in the afternoon Tuesday, Dec. 13, state police were notified of a single-vehicle crash on Route 103 in Mt. Holly. Troopers from the Rutland Barracks responded and located the wreck at the intersection with North Bowlsville Road.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Sucha Virk of Brampton, Ontario, was traveling north on Route 103 when he lost control of his tractor trailer. It came to rest in the stream that runs alongside Route 103. Virk was transported by Regional Ambulance to Rutland Regional Medical Center for possible injuries. The crash is still being investigated.
Assistance was provided on the scene by the Department of Motor Vehicles, the state hazmat team, Shrewsbury Fire Department, Regional Ambulance, and Mount Holly Fire Department.
Earle’s Towing removed the truck from the stream throughout the night.
