RUTLAND— On Oct. 26, Stafford Technical Center completed its sixth annual leaf raking event. The school sent all of the students out in the community to rake leaves for community members who need a helping hand. In addition to raking leaves, the culinary arts program sent along a studentmade pie to the residents whose leaves were being raked.
This year approximately 250 students and almost 40 staff members headed out on Tuesday, Oct. 26 around 9 a.m. The faculty and staff were easy to spot all over Rutland City in their purple shirts with white logos on the back and “Unity in the Community” on the front. The students were able to rake about 25 lawns, Chaffee Art Center and a few of the city parks as well. A generous donation from Casella Waste systems provided the leaf bags that were used for this community event.
