KILLINGTON—”Spell exhilarate,” said the moderator of the Killington Elementary School vs. Barnard Academy Spelling Bee competition last week. Nervous energy filled the specials’ room at KES on Thursday morning, Oct. 6, as the start time approached. But the excitement of a spelling bee exhilarated many simultaneously.
Congratulations to Barnard Academy as they move on to the regional competition. KES students are to be commended for their tremendous efforts to study the Vermont Principal Association (VPA) word list during lunch times and other opportunities gleaned throughout the course of a busy school day. Mary Guggenberger, KES principal, thanked all of the students who participated in the spelling bee and showed the courage to take a risk and challenge themselves striving for excellence, and thanked organizers.
“Thank you to Ms. Naugle for organizing the spelling bee and encouraging all of her students to reach new heights in learning. Also, many thanks to Andy and Nan Salamon for volunteering their time to assist Ms. Naugle in moderating the bee,” Guggenberger wrote in the KES newsletter. “Your help is very much appreciated!”
