FAIR HAVEN—Habitat for Humanity of Rutland County (HFHRC) announced the dedication of its first house at 30 West St, in Fair Haven in a news release Oct. 1. The property, granted to HFHRC through the Wells Fargo Community Uplift Stabilization Program, has been completely refurbished and will be the home of Melissa Fournier and her two daughters.
“It is only with the enthusiastic support of generous donors and the hard work of scores of volunteers that we were able to reach this important milestone,” said Habitat Board President Chris Heintz. “We invite everyone to come celebrate with us!”
Work began in June 2014 and was recently completed. In addition to the 1,000s of combined volunteer hours, the Fournier family contributed over 250 hours of sweat equity, working with volunteers to build their home. The home includes a heat pump donated by Green Mountain Power and has been built to the highest efficiency standards achieving a Home Energy Rating System (HERS) score of 49.
A dedication will be held on Oct. 16 at 3 p.m. Food and refreshments will be hosted by the Fair Haven Rotary Club. Organizers invite the public to come meet the Fourniers and others who have made this dream come to true.
This home is the first of six new houses Habitat for Humanity of Rutland County has committed to build by 2022. The next home will be at 42 Cleveland Ave Rutland and the affiliate will review applications later this fall.
