Grain truck rolls over off Route 4

MENDON—On Monday, Aug. 22, at about 7:45 a.m., members of the Rutland City Fire Department, Vermont DMV Enforcement and Vermont State Police responded to a crash involving a grain truck rollover on Route 4 in the town of Mendon.
Investigation at the scene revealed that 48-year-old James Wright of Randolph, Vt., was driving a 2012 Kenworth grain truck west on Route 4 in the area of Pico Mountain Commons when he slowed for a turning vehicle that had stopped in front of him quickly to turn off the roadway. Wright drove partially off the road into the soft shoulder ,which caused the truck to roll over into a residential yard.
James Wright suffered possible injury including bumps and bruises, according to police, but was not transported to a medical facility.
The truck is owned by Green Mountain Feeds. The driver was able to get out of the truck under his own power.  Some of the grain in the truck spilled onto the lawn of a private residence, police reported.
Carrara’s and Earle’s Truck Repair were summoned to the scene and the rolled truck is being emptied into a secondary grain truck to facilitate the truck being righted and pulled back onto the roadway.
The cleanup lasted several hours. Route 4 remained open to traffic. The crash remains under investigation.
