The annual Pittsfield’s Picnic end of summer potluck was a community success; over $2,000 raised

PITTSFIELD — On Sunday, Aug. 24, the annual Pittsfield’s Picnic end of summer potluck community fundraiser was held in the town green. Townspeople enjoyed a fun-filled, beautiful sunny day featuring food, music, field games, dunk tank, silent auction and horseshoe tournament.

“Many thanks go out to our neighbors, from near and far, who donated lots of support and time, food and water, and over 80 silent auction items to help make this day possible,” said Erica Hurd, event organizer. “We collected just over $2,000 to help with improvements to the recreation area, the focus this year is on the basketball court.”

This year’s “Pittsfield Proud” horseshoe tournament winners were Tim Hunt and Leon Merriam, who reclaimed their Gold Shoe status, the top honor. Steve Martin returned to win the Silver Shoe with new partner Anthony Cotter and the Bronze Shoes were awarded to husband and wife team Christopher and Erica Hurd.

Save the date for the next gathering on Aug. 30, 2015.
