Carris announces spot on ballot

Following the results of the Aug. 26 primary election, State Senate candidate William Tracy Carris is pleased to announce that he will appear on the general election ballot as a Democrat. With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Carris received 36.5 percent of the votes for a first place finish in the Democratic primary.

“I am looking forward to an exciting campaign season,” said Carris. “I am running for the Senate because I want to raise my family in a safe community where folks can make a livable wage to support their families. As senator, I will fight for an economic development plan that delivers results for Rutland County and I will push for a solution to the drug epidemic with real funding and not just talk.”

Carris is a seventh generation Vermonter from a family with a long history of public service in Rutland County. He is a partner with the firm DeBonis, Wright, & Carris in Poultney and is president of the Chaffee Art Center, a member of the Rutland & Poultney Chamber of Commerce, and a justice of the peace. Carris currently serves on the Vermont Transportation Board, has served on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity, was a previous chair of the Rutland Regional Planning Commission, and served in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
