Killington golfers place among top
Reggie Parker of Ekwanok Country Club won her 8th Vermont senior women’s title by claiming the championship held this week at Country Club of Barre.
Parker shot 77-84 for a total 161, giving her an impressive 6-stroke victory over defending champion Jeanne Morrissey of Williston Golf Club. Morrissey clinched second place and the runner-up trophy after defeating Mary Brush of Burlington Country Club and Patti Haas of Killington Golf Club in a sudden death playoff.
Sandra Towns of Orleans Country Club won the low net trophy with a net total of 136, four strokes better than Nancy Gorham Lasante of Bellows Falls, Ethelyn Bartlett of Cedar Knoll, and Phyllis Simon of Williston.
The state seniors’ amateur is open to women 55 and older. Trophies are awarded for Super Senior (65-69) and Legend (70+). Sheila Darrah of Copley Country Club was this year’s Super Senior winner, shooting 86-84. In addition to the overall title, Parker took home the Legends trophy.
Clubs with at least three players are eligible for the Pat Job Cup, which combines several low gross and low net scores over the two days of competition. Williston won with a score of 453.
