Central Vt. golfers take top finishes at the State Amateur Championship

Madison Corley of Essex Junction fired a blistering one-under par round of 71 to secure her second straight State Amateur Championship, Vermont State Women’s Golf Association officials announced Thursday, Aug. 21. Madison Corley lead from wire-to-wire with all three rounds in the 70s for a three-day total of 225.

Chloe Levins of Rutland matched Madison’s sub-par round with a 71 of her own to pull herself into second place, three shots behind Madison at 228.

Overall, the scoring for Thursday’s final round was lower, VSWGA reported. Tiffany Maurycy of Williston fired a 75 for a third place finish at 231. Holly Reynolds of Copley stayed in fourth place with a 76 for a 236 total. Kristin Mahoney of Rutland fired a 79 to pull herself into the top five with a 244 total.  Jeanne Morrissey of Williston finished in sixth place at 248.  Terry Boyce of Killington, Patti Haas of Killington, and Susie Bremner of Rocky Ridge all tied for seventh at 253.  Cheri Campbell of Burlington was tenth at 254.

Madison Corley also won the Junior Championship and the Allbright Ringer Trophy.  The team from Williston Golf Club won the Paquet Cup.
