81st annual East Poultney Day celebrates democracy

Saturday, Aug. 13—POULTNEY—Susan Clark, author of “Slow Democracy,” is the featured speaker at East Poultney Day held Saturday, Aug. 13. She encourages citizens to govern themselves locally using inclusive, citizen-powered processes. Among her numerous honors is that of receiving the 2010 Vermont Secretary of State’s Enduring Democracy Award.
The 81st annual East Poultney Day also features exhibits and demonstrations of traditional skills at various times through the day. The main events tent in the center of the East Poultney Green will host Extra Stout, Ben Grosscup of People’s Music Network, and Spruce Knob Uprising. More than 40 vendors will offer a variety of gifts, pantry essentials, jewelry, farm products, and more.
Food is also a component of the day with grilled burgers and hot dogs from the Poultney Valley Snow Devils and lots of other specialty foods from the vendors.
