Local branches of Girls on the Run Vermont opens for spring registration

Courtesy Girls on the Run Vermont Vermont’s spring 2025 season for Girls on the Run is open for registration in Rutland and Windsor counties.

Girls on the Run Vermont (GOTRVT) has officially opened registration for its spring 2025 season, bringing its empowering, confidence-building program to Rutland and Windsor counties. The 10-week program uses physical activity and interactive lessons to help girls in grades 3 through 8 build essential life skills, develop confidence, and form positive peer connections.

The season begins the week of March 17 and will conclude with a non-competitive, celebratory 5K event. Participants will have the opportunity to run, walk, or move at their own pace at one of two statewide events:

May 31 at Champlain Valley Expo in Essex

June 7 at Manchester Recreation Fields

These end-of-season celebrations bring together family, friends, and community members to support and honor the participants’ achievements.

Rutland and Windsor County opportunities

This season, Girls on the Run (grades 3-5) and Heart & Sole (grades 6-8) will be offered at several local schools in Rutland and Windsor counties, providing girls the opportunity to grow their confidence and develop strong decision-making skills.

Schools hosting the program in Rutland County include: Barstow Memorial, Benson Village School, Castleton Elementary School, Christ the King (Heart & Sole), Currier Memorial School, Lothrop School, Mettawee Community School, Middletown Springs Elementary School, Neshobe School, Rutland Town School, Shrewsbury Mountain School, Tinmouth Elementary, Wallingford Elementary School, and Wells Village School.

In Windsor County: Bethel Elementary, Chester-Andover Elementary School, Ottauquechee School, South Royalton Elementary School, and Woodstock Elementary.

The registration fee is $130, which includes participation in the 10-week program, registration for the 5K event, program t-shirt, journal, cinch sack, and water bottle.

GOTRVT relies on a dedicated network of volunteer coaches to lead teams and inspire participants. Several locations in Rutland and Windsor counties are still in need of coaches. Volunteers do not need to be runners—just enthusiastic, supportive, and willing to mentor young participants. With over 500 volunteer coaches statewide, GOTRVT expects to engage between 1,700 and 2,000 girls this spring, continuing its longstanding mission of empowering the next generation.
