Killington Pico Rotary Club hosts international exchange students for a weekend of winter fun

Courtesy Killington Pico Rotary Club International students, weekend host families, and chaperones enjoyed a weekend of skiing at Pico Mountain, Feb. 8-9.

The Killington Pico Rotary Club recently welcomed international Rotary exchange students for a weekend of winter activities, cultural exchange, and community engagement. Each February, the club hosts students spending the academic year in Vermont and New Hampshire as part of the Rotary Youth Exchange program.

During their stay, students and their host families attended a special Killington Pico Rotary Club dinner, allowing them to connect with local Rotarians and community members.

Killington Mountain Resort sponsored the students for a weekend of snow sports at Pico Mountain, including lift tickets, equipment, and instruction. The weekend also included a pizza party and ice cream sundaes at the Killington Grand Hotel. As a keepsake, each student received a Killington World Club hat.

This year’s exchange students represented a diverse group from Norway, Finland, Austria, Ukraine, Italy, Indonesia, Japan, Argentina, Czech Republic, Turkey, Belgium, Thailand, and Chile. As part of the Rotary tradition, students brought banners from their home Rotary Clubs to exchange with the Killington Pico Rotary Club, creating a symbolic connection between their communities and Killington.

The Killington Pico Rotary Club is affiliated with Rotary International and meets biweekly on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. at the KPAA Killington Welcome Center, often featuring guest speakers.
