Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 9-11—RUTLAND—One of Rutland’s most recognized and anticipated annual events. BROC Community Action along with The Community Cupboard and The Salvation Army all benefit from the generosity at this event.
Stuff-A-Bus, which has been in existence for 25 years and helped thousands of Rutland County residents put food on the table, will be held held at Market 32 on 38 Rutland Shopping Plaza, Rutland, and Hannaford Shopping Center on 318 So. Main St., Rutland, Thursday, Nov. 9-Saturday, Nov. 11.
The original model had the organizers collecting nonperishable foods over the course of three days to divide those donations between BROC Community Action, The Community Cupboard and The Salvation Army.
However, the Covid-19 pandemic forced event organizers to reconsider procedures for successful collection and distribution of food for those in need. Rather than the collection of food items, organizers have switched to funds collection allowing a more efficient distribution of resources.
In its success, Stuff-A-Bus: Funds for Food has become the new model going forward. Monetary donations facilitated food purchases through distributers such as Vermont Foodbank and through local farmers, letting nothing go to waste.
Last year the BROC Community Food Shelf distributed over 100 tons of food.
