Mixed media mindful art journaling class

Wednesday, Nov. 8 at 11 a.m.—BELMONT—The Mount Holly Library, on 26 Maple Hill Road in Belmont, will hold a mixed media mindful art journaling class in the Community Room on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. The class, taught by Linden Eller, costs $25 and is for all levels. It has been designed to establish a regular rhythm of reflection, practice mindfulness prompts. Participants should be prepared to get messy with a spectrum of artistic experimentation. An appreciation for the wabi-sabi view of beauty in imperfection will be fostered.

Art journaling is a visual art form involving creative self-care, exploration, and play which often combines different mediums and techniques such as drawing, painting, writing, collage, stamping, mark-making, and more. Fundamental design principles such as movement, composition, and texture, may be employed.

All art materials will be included in the price while students should bring journals. Students should come prepared with a heavy-weight paper journal or sketchbook. A journal can be a place to gather quotations or memories, a playground for self-expression, a safe space to experiment with techniques, and a way to archive details of daily life.
