Sunday, Nov. 12, 3-5 p.m.—WOODSTOCK—The Upper Valley Chamber Orchestra, the Upper Valley Music Center’s longest-running adult ensemble, will perform an evening of 19th and 20th century music at Woodstock Town Hall Theatre, 31 The Green, Woodstock. The program includes Brahms’ Symphony No. 3 in F Major and Germaine Tailleferre’s “Ballade for Piano and Orchestra.” Tailleferre, a French composer and the only woman member of the group known as Les Six, composed the Ballade in 1920. UVMC’s new piano instructor Chenyu Wang joins the orchestra as the soloist.
Soprano Chiho Kaneko joins the orchestra for Richard Strauss’s “Four Last Songs,” featuring poetry by Hermann Hesse and Joseph von Eichendorff. The ensemble will be joined by pianist William Ogmundson and harpist Sorana Scarlat for Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring.” The Upper Valley Chamber Orchestra features more than 40 musicians from throughout the region.
