One dead in Route 4 crash

Police said one died in a two-car crash on Route 4 near Craigs Lane in Mendon around 7:30 p.m. Aug. 11.

Police said Stephen P. Marcoulier, 62, of Ashby, Massachusetts, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation determined Marcoulier was driving a 1983 Volkswagen traveling eastbound on Route 4. Marcoulier left the travel lane and struck a guardrail. He then crossed back across the travel lane, where he collided with another vehicle driven by Saudin Radoncic, 50, with Shane Radoncic, 20, both of Billerica, Masaschussetts in the passenger seat.  

Marcoulier’s vehicle then rolled on its side.  

This investigation is still ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is encouraged to call the State Police Rutland Barracks at 802-773-9101. 

No criminal charges have been filed at the time. 

Troopers were assisted by Killington Police Department, and the Rutland City Fire Department.
