Saturday, May 20—Woodstock—On Saturday, Tillie Walden, recently named the 5th Cartoonist Laureate of Vermont, will appear at the Norman Williams Public Library in Woodstock. Walden, a graduate of and currently a professor at the Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, won the Eisner Award for best reality-based work for her graphic novel memoir “Spinning” at the age of 22 in 2018. Walden is currently working on a graphic novel trilogy and, with musicians Tegan and Sara, two books for middle-grade readers.
Walden’s work is celebrated for its intimate and authentic portrayal of adolescence that often explores queer themes with beautifully crafted images paired with realistically emotional text. Entertainment Weekly named her as one of “the most essential graphic novelists of her generation.”
The Yankee Bookshop will be on hand with copies of Tillie Walden’s books.
