Dec. 3 – 31— RUTLAND — The third annual Light Up Rutland County holiday lights competition is calling all light-peepers in the area to come out and enjoy the competition’s registered decorator displays throughout the month of December. Grab a friend or family member and a tumble of cocoa and head out to have your winter nights lit up by people all over the county. Vote on your favorite decorations through midnight Dec. 31 to thank the decorators for spreading joy. You’ll be entered to win some great prizes.
Households, business/organizations, and schools in Rutland County have registered to help Light Up Rutland and compete for some awesome prizes! Prizes for first, second and third place will be awarded to the household decorators that gain the most votes in the online community voting. Business/organization and school categories will compete for first place and bragging rights. A map of all competing decorators is now available on the Social Tinkering website. Get out for some light-peeping and then come back to the website and vote: SocialTinkering.org/lightuprutland.
In the household category, the first place winner will receive four Killington ski-lift tickets, second place will be awarded two vouchers valid for balcony seating at the Paramount Theatre, and the third place winner will get a one-month household membership to The Mint. This event is sponsored by VELCO, which has generously donated to help Social Tinkering create this fun competition to light up our long winter nights.
All voters will automatically be entered to win prizes from Mountain Music, GreenSpell Plant Shop, Marble Valley Kitchen, and Come Alive Outside.
Director of Social Tinkering Jeanette Langston, said “I started Light Up Rutland the first winter during Covid to show everyone in our communities that we can be there to light up the darkness for each other even when we can’t be together. Now, we continue this fun competition to keep reminding each other we can light each other up, that we are all connected.”
Winners will be announced on Friday, Jan. 9 at SocialTinkering.org/lightuprutland and on Social Tinkering’s social media accounts.
