Snow on Superstar

Temperatures (finally) begin to cooperate with Killington — race hill turns white, resort says it’s ‘confident’ it can pull off the FIS World Cup ski race over Thanksgiving weekend Staff report

New snow nearly covers
Superstar at Killington.

“While some people may be excited about record high temperatures in November, we are not among them,” Killington Resort stated in The Drift newsletter. “As soon as the temperatures drop (right now, it’s looking promising around Nov. 10) we will put the full force of our snow gun arsenal into getting things going for skiing and riding… we’d like to address the elephant in the room,” the statement continued. “We are still optimistic about the upcoming Killington Cup. According to our rockstar snowmaking team, it takes us 100-150 hours of snowmaking with a wet bulb temp of 26 degrees or less to get Superstar up to snuff. Looking at the long-term forecast, our team is confident we can make it happen before Thanksgiving Weekend.”

The race trail, Superstar, appeared white on Nov. 8.
