WUHS senior helps improves Killington recreation playground with ‘food truck’

Local community member Logan Sudol, a senior at Woodstock Union High School & Middle School, expanded the Johnson recreation playground in Killington as part of his Eagle Scout project.

Sudol, having grown up using the playground, saw a way to give back to the community. As a lifeguard for Killington Recreation, Sudol knew how much use the playground got in the summer months, especially with Camp Loads of Fun. “The food truck offers a wonderful opportunity for imaginative play,” said Killington Recreation Director Sarah Newell. “We are proud of Logan’s accomplishment and thankful he thought of us.”

This project began in April of this year, where Sudol presented his idea and design to the Recreation Commission. After edits required by playground safety requirements, the final design was approved. Construction for the newest playground piece started in late August with a haul of lumber. From there, Sudol, alongside fellow members of Boy Scout Troop 220 of Woodstock, and volunteers experienced in construction, went to work for several weeks assembling the structure. He utilized multiple pathways to fund his project including a generous donation of $500 from the bottle drop drive led by Rodger Rivera and Jim Haff. “I would like to thank the GoFund me donors: Aimee McNeil, Russel Little, Kelly O’Brien, Mary Hansen, Will Mckay, and Adam Wolf. I would also like to thank the scouts and parents from Troop 220 as well as Will Mckay for volunteering with construction,” said Sudol.
