Saturday, Oct. 15 at 11 a.m.— POULTNEY — The officers of Poultney Museum of History and Art are pleased to announce that on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., award-winning Poultney author Jill Coupe will be featured at Poultney Museum during a Meet the Author – Book Signing event.
This event is sponsored and hosted jointly by two 501(c )(3) educational non-profits in the community; the Poultney Museum of History and Art and the Welsh-American Genealogical Society. Poultney Museum, located at 168 York St., is a handicapped-accessible facility owned by Green Mountain Power Company.
Poultney author Jill Coupe won the 2021 Independent Publisher Book Award (IPPY) Silver Medal for Multicultural Fiction (“Beginning with Cannonballs”) and the 2016 IPPY Gold Medal for Regional Fiction – South (“True Stories at the Smoky View”). Her novels depict unlikely friendships and have been reviewed in such disparate sources as Library Journal, Booklist, Necessary Fiction, and Smoky Mountain Living. McCroskey Coupe’s master’s degrees (an MFA in fiction and an MLS in library science) are a dead giveaway: she has always loved books. A former librarian at John Hopkins University, she recently moved to Poultney to be near her son and his family. Having grown up near the Smoky Mountains, she is thrilled to be able to watch the sun set over the Adirondacks and has found Vermont hospitality to be as warm and welcoming as its Southern counterpart.
With purchase of autographed books between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on this day, tour of the museum and its exhibits is free. Face masks are not required; however, they are appreciated during this special event.
