Saturday, Aug. 27 — WEST PAWLET — Wayward Goose Farm is hosting a benefit concert in their haymow on Saturday, Aug. 27, featuring the musical talents of Dayna Kurtz and Helen Gillet. They are raising money for the National Network of Abortion Funds, a grassroots network building power to remove financial, logistical, cultural and political barriers to abortion.
There will be food available on site starting at 6 p.m. Music will start at 7 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs. The suggestion donation for entry is $20 per person with all donations going go the National Network of Abortion Funds.
Laurie Brooks, co-owner of Wayward Goose Farm, will be on site with her latest block prints for purchase including her new poster, The Patriarchy. Proceeds from the sale of the poster will also go to the National Network of Aborition Funds.
Wayward Goose Farm is a family owned and operated sustainable micro dairy which produces grass fed, A2 certified raw milk from their herd of Jersey/Montbeliarde cows, with a focus on animal well-being and an emphasis on soil health.
In addition to the milk, their on-site farm market also carries their own yogurt and farm raised meats, along with the items from numerous other local growers and producers and much more.

Over the past decade, singer/writer/producer Dayna Kurtz has been bestowed with many awards and praises, including being named the Female Songwriter of the Year by the National Academy of Songwriters. Norah Jones and Bonnie Raitt have raved about her in interviews, and she’s performed at such lauded venues as New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Celebrate Brooklyn, the Austin City Limits Festival and Lincoln Center and has been heard on high-profile radio shows as World Cafe, Mountain Stage and NPR’s Morning Edition and Tell Me More.
She’s toured as opener for the likes of Elvis Costello, Richard Thompson, Mavis Staples, Rufus Wainwright, B.B. King, Dr. John, Richie Havens, Keren Ann, and the Blind Boys of Alabama. Dayna divides her year between southern Vermont and New Orleans.
Helen Gillet
Helen Gillet, a singer-song-writer and “surrealist-archeologist” exploring both organic and synthesized sounds, texture and rhythm uses an acoustic cello, vocals and loops. She was born in Belgium, raised in Singapore, Chicago and Wisconsin before moving to the eclectic musical tapestry of New Orleans. She has won three Gambit Big Easy awards: best “other instrumentalist,” “female performer” and “contemporary jazz artist.” Downbeat Magazine named her a “rising star” in 2022.
Gillet has performed at a wide array of elite venues all over the world including: The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Lincoln Center in NYC, The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Darwin Music Festival and Museum of Old and New Art (Tasmania) in Australia and Mirano Oltre Festival in Italy. She has also recorded, toured and performed with a wide array of musicians, notably Smokey Robinson, Arcade Fire, Nels Cline, Cassandra Wilson, Iron and Wine, Dr. John, Marianne Faithful, Johnny Vidacovich, Psychedelic Furs and Kid Koala, Jason Marsalis, and Jeff Coffin to name a few.
