Thursday, Aug. 4 — FAIR HAVEN — Twangbusters will be visiting Fair Haven on Aug. 4 for the sixth of eight concerts in the series. They were scheduled last year but the severe storms forced the committee to cancel the concert. We are really looking forward to their visit here in Fair Haven. Bandmembers include Paula Bradley (“Miss Paula”) on piano/vocals; Peter Bearup (guitar); Kevin Maul (steel guitar); Jaybird Gorleski (doghouse bass); and Bob Resnick (drums). This particular configuration of the group has been together now for seven years.
Twangbusters
The group refers to its music as “juke joint swing,” a mash-up of vintage country, jump blues and hillbilly swing. They will keep everyone clapping their hands and tapping their toes. The group also reports to have a live CD (recorded at the Sportmen’s Tavern in Buffalo, New York). Each of the members of the band keeps busy on a variety of musical projects. The concerts committee has been seeing a record number of visitors to the park and the bands have loved their enthusiastic support for all of the performances.
The concerts start promptly at 7 p.m. and as always there will be hot dogs, popcorn, sodas and water available for purchase. The 50/50 raffle has been extremely popular this year. The door prize drawings are held during a short intermission. There are plenty of picnic tables in the park and we invite concert goers to come early and enjoy the town’s green prior to the show.
