NAACP to host Congressional Candidate Forum in Rutland

Saturday, July 30 — RUTLAND — This November, Vermont will elect a new person to its single Congressional House seat, and on Saturday July 30 at 2 p.m., the Vermont branches of the NAACP will host a forum to discuss racial equity and related issues. All candidates were invited and six have confirmed they will attend: Becca Balint, Shanay Clifford, Molly Gray, Liam Madden, Louis Meyers, and Ericka Redic.

“This is a critical moment for Vermont’s representation in Washington, and voters must have a clear understanding of their options for this election,” says Mia Schultz, president of the Rutland branch, who will moderate the panel, along with Windham Area branch president Steffen Gillom. “The future of the state and our country as a whole are tied directly to issues of racial equity and social justice, and this forum is an opportunity for a direct dialogue with the candidates who will help shape that policy.”

This free event will be filmed from Castleton University and livestreamed via Zoom. The NAACP is collecting questions for the candidates from the public. More details and link available at naacprutland.org/RepForum.
