William Blum, 90

William “Bill” Blum died June 29 at the age of 90. He was born in Gardner, Massachusetts to Madalean A. and James J. Blum on February 11, 1932.

Bill Blum made three major moves in his long life. In 1966, he and Rae (deceased) his wife of 61 years and their sons Jeff and Steve moved from Orange, Massachusetts to Killington, Vermont. They had spent many winter weekends skiing at Killington prior to the move.

Then, in 1980, with their sons out of college and starting lives on their own, Bill and Rae moved to Pinehurst, North Carolina. There Bill started Equinox, a quality, custom home building company. After nearly 25 ears in the south, in 2012, Bill and Rae decided it was time to return to Vermont. It was time to be closer to the grandkids and the rest of the Blum family.

“Grandpa Bill,” as he was affectionately known, is survived by his eldest son Jeff (John), son Steve (Darrell), daughter-in-law Pam, grandsons Evan (Ashley), Ethan (Beatrix) and Craig Goslant, great granddaughter Victoria Rae, great grandson Jonathan, Buster and Jake and extended family and friends.

Bill Blum will be greatly missed! In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in Bill’s memory to a charity of your choice. Burial will be in Orange, Massachusetts, at South Cemetery in the fall.
