National junior golf tournament returns to Killington, June 20-23

The American Junior Golf Association will return to Killington, for the 12th-annual Golf Performance Center Killington Junior Golf Championship. Green Mountain National Golf Course in Killington will once again host the 54-hole national junior golf tournament, June 20-23, with 132 boys and girls ages 12-19 competing.

In 2021, New York native Philip Minnehan emerged victorious, winning in a playoff over William Ma from San Diego, California. Minnehan is playing collegiate golf at Towson University where he achieved three top 20 finishes as a freshman in 2021-22. California native Charissa Shang won the girls division in 2021 after carding five birdies in the final round and defeating Vanessa Borovilos from Toronto in a five-hole playoff. Shang signed a national letter of intent with Harvard University.

The 2022 edition of the tournament will feature four college commits and nine players in the top-200 of the Rolex AJGA rankings. There are currently 16 states and three countries represented in the field.

An AJGA qualifier for entry to the tournament will take place at Green Mountain National Golf Course on Monday, June 20. The event will be a 2 p.m. shotgun start.

First-round play will begin Tuesday, June 21. First- and second-round tee times on Tuesday, June 21 and Wednesday, June 22 will be from 7-8:50 a.m. and 11:40 a.m.-1:30 p.m. off Nos. 1 and 10 tees at Green Mountain National Golf Course. Following the second round on Wednesday, June 22, the tournament fields will be cut to a minimum of 50% of each field (boys and girls). Final-round tee times on Thursday, June 23 are projected for 7-9 a.m. with the awards ceremony taking place after the conclusion of final-round play at approximately 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 23.

Green Mountain National Golf Course is located at 476 Barrows Towne Rd, Killington, Vermont. Guests are welcome to attend, and admission is free.
