The Killington Mountain School Snowboard team takes a group shot at Copper Mountain, Colorado while competing at the USASA National Championships April 2-3.

Last week, the Killington Mountain School Snowboard team capped off a successful season by heading to Copper Mountain, Colorado to compete at the USASA National Championships April 2-3. This 31st edition of the national championships returned after a two-year hiatus. The team was represented with successful competition in slopestyle and rail jam for men and women ages 12 to 17. Head coach Devon Gulick led the team, supported by coach Ryan Sihler. The team trained and worked hard all season at Killington Mountain and the Woodward Killington parks.

The conditions at Copper Mountain were challenging with unseasonably cold temperatures with winds averaging 30 mph with gusts up to 45-50 mph. Many riders were unable to perform at their peak, but the KMS snowboarders were used to the conditions as they mirrored a typical Vermont weekend. Riders hailed from across the world as close as Copper to as far as China.

Results:

  • Cam Chase (11th in slopestyle).
  • Jamie Hamlin (17th in slopestyle)
  • Callen Hwang (Bronze / 3rd in slopestyle, 4th in rail jam)
  • Rocco Jones (47th in slopestyle)
  • Kiara Murphy (5th in slopestyle, 6th in rail jam)
  • Jess Perlmutter (9th in rail jam, 22nd in slopestyle)
